Aftercare Options

Gifts of Peace is proud to now be affiliated with Only Cremations & Aquamation For Pets, based in Newport Beach. They offer both cremation and aquamation aftercare options with either individual or communal choices.

You may still choose to use the services of Guardian Animal Aftercare or Cal Pet. You will need to contact them directly to make arrangements for pick up of your pet from your home after the visit.

What is the difference between Cremation and Aquamation?

When a body is cremated, the remains are burned to ash (sometimes called “cremains” or “cremated remains”) and may be buried in the earth, kept by the family in an urn, or scattered.

Aquamation is known as a more eco-friendly pet aftercare process. It uses water instead of flame in a process called alkaline hydrolysis. A combination of gentle water flow, temperature, and alkalinity are used to accelerate the breakdown of organic materials. Aquamation ash is lighter in color and has a powdery texture. As with the cremation process, ashes may be kept or scattered.

Private Cremation & Aquamation

When a pet is privately cremated, each pet is placed in their own individual chamber, ensuring that it is only your pet that will be returned to you in a special urn of your choice. Only Pets offers solely private cremations; they do not partition, separate, or divide. Ashes will be hand delivered back to you.

Group Cremation or Aquamation

Your pet will be cremated or aquamated communally with other pets. Cremains are then spread at sea by Captain Dave’s Dolphin & Whale Watching This is a very nice, affordable option for those who do not wish to receive their pet’s ashes back.
